English level: High Beginner to Intermediate (Students should have strong proficiency in English, understand simple past tense, and read full sentences comfortably. This lesson uses some complicated sentence structures and higher vocabulary.) Teaching medium: PowerPoint, shared onscreen (no external sites required) Together, the class will practice eight vocabulary words before reading "Snow White" (retold) together from a colorful PowerPoint presentation. We will pause every few pages of reading for a check of comprehension. I give every student a chance to read, speak, and take part in the activities. There are cute and colorful illustrations to keep students' attention and imagine the story better. If your student can read this sample passage, he/she will be at a good level for this class: Suddenly, she heard a knock at the door. She opened it to see an old woman there. “Hi, deary. I grow the sweetest, most delicious apples in the world. Would you like to try one?” asked the old woman. Snow White looked at the apple in the old woman’s hand. She loved apples. “How much does it cost?” asked Snow White. UPDATE: This lesson now includes a read-along story video for download. Students can use this to practice pronunciation and to recognize unfamiliar words. "Snow White" is a classic story. I look forward to sharing it with my students!
