Over the next 8 weeks, young guitarists will expand on their knowledge from the first 8-week course to learn how to read standard notation, make chord shapes, play different strumming patterns, learn a recognizable guitar riff, and more! Week 1 - Review of basic chord shapes and TAB reading Week 2 - Strumming patterns on G, C, D, Am, and Em chord progressions Week 3 - Learning more basic chords: F, Dm, A, and Bm barre chord Week 4 - Reading standard notation on the first string Week 5 - Reading standard notation on the second string Week 6 - How to play a major scale pattern Week 7 - How to play a pentatonic scale pattern and use it to solo over a 12 bar blues progression Week 8 - How to sing and play on the guitar at the same time. We will also review everything we covered from the past 8 weeks. Students who have not completed the first 8-week guitar course may join if they are able to tune their own guitar, read TAB, and be able to play the C, G, D, Am, and Em chord. In guitar class, we will learn how to play our instrument, have fun, and make new friends. In order to keep up with the class, students must aim to practice at least 10 minutes every day outside of class. If students are not able to complete the homework assignments, they may find it difficult to keep up with the material we go over in class. No cancellations or refunds are available after the start of class. Please make sure your learner can attend or review video for all 8 weeks before signing up for this course.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to form a barre chord, play a pentatonic scale, play a recognizable riff, and perform a song of their choosing.
