Since, some artists take longer than others the only homework would be if a student needs to finish the artwork for the day. After the first class, students will need to get their 6-8 other papers ready for the rest of the classes. This will help them complete as many as possible in the class time period.Class Experience
During the week the students will sketch a favorite object and color it using a specific color system: 1) Primary 2) Secondary 3) Tertiary 4) Complimentary 5) Split Comlimentary 6) Analogous 7) Monochromatic 8) Warm & Cool Colors. The students will observe the teacher creating a quick sketch of a simple object for getting the lesson set-up and/or the teacher will share an example that represents the color system anticipated for each class. Then, the students will follow the sketch example that the teacher has shared or sketch an object of their own choosing. They may choose the same object for all 3 classes or a different object. The teacher recommends an object that has a special meaning for them. After the set-up is sketched and ready, the teacher will present the color system choices for that day's lesson. Then, the students will do the same by sketching their choice of an object quickly and then applying the specific color system. During the classtime, the teacher will be available for interacting and advising students during their art process. Afterwards, the students will be given time to share their creations, if they want. No student will be required to share unless they would like. The goal is a collection of 6-8 artworks (dependent of their ability), that will support understanding the color systems in the Color Wheel.
Learning Goals
Students will increase their understanding of the color systems utilized with the Color Wheel by experiencing them in a manner that helps young artists learn them and they will have their very own color wheel collection of artwork when finished.

Supply List
1) Pencils, sharpened and eraser. 2) Multi-media sketchbook, like a Canson Mix-media, 98lb, 7 x 10 inches, preferred. Or Index Cards without lines. Must consider the Color medium that will be used is fully supported by the proper paper choice. Separate sheets of 98lb paper or equivalent strength will be acceptable. The paper will need to be cut into 4x4 or 5x5 squares and the student will need at least 8 pages ready to go. It may be helpful to have a few extra in case a student makes a few mistakes and wants to start over. They can use index cards, instead of cutting up the paper. 3) Choose a Color medium: Colored pencils (Prismacolor are preferred because they mix so nicely), or Watercolor pencils (water tub & brushes, as needed) or paints. For those with painting experience, students may use Watercolor or Acrylic paints, depending on their level of expertise. 4) The Set of 12 colors: Must have the following colors--Red, Blue, Yellow, Violet, Green, Orange. And the following group of colors is useful for the student, to have them in the set -- Red-orange (Vermillion), Red-violet (Magenta), Blue-violet, Blue-green (Teal), Yellow-green (Chartreuse) and Yellow-orange (Amber). 5) Might need some paper towels or a cloth towel for cleaning up, as needed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
I have been a practicing Artist and Teacher in the public school system for 25 years. I believe that the basics create a strong foundation for learning and allowing students to gain the confidence they need for continuing with their own drawing style and future artistic projects. I have learned that making mistakes is part of the process and the more comfortable students get with that concept, the better their artwork turns out.
