Class Experience

Learning days and months can be hard for young learns. I want to focus on using rhythm and rhyme to help learners know the names of each month in the year as well as the days of a week. We will sing songs and use hand motions to memorize the months in a year as well as days of a week. Learners will interact using sing a longs, hand motions and discussions to model understanding of months and days.

I will sing a song or rhyme as students follow along and repeat several times to memorize the skill. We will repeat this pattern several times until all learners have mastered the songs.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Jackie but the kids call me Teacher Jackie and I'm excited to be apart of this great student centered platform. I am certified in EC-6 grade, ESL and Gifted and Talented. I currently teach Gifted and Talented students in the public school system.

My teaching philosophy is to help students build on what they already know in order to gain a deeper, life long understanding. With a Bachelors degree in Education and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction my approach to learning is through hands-on activities. I believe students learn by doing, getting involved in the process of skills building through experience.

As a wife and mother of two, I love to build my family's personal experience through travel and book adventures.
