A five day study of tap dance technique and choreography
Class experience
In this five day dance camp, dancers will experience a true tap class adapted to an online format. Students will begin with a warm-up in center floor. We will complete exercises to loosen up the hips and ankles and review technique. We will then complete progressive rhythm exercises. This will be followed by traveling drills and the progression of technique. Class will conclude with a combination. Combinations for this particular class will be taught in a Broadway or theatre style....
Dancers will improve their tap technique, ability to pick-up choreography, and showmanship.
With over 30 years of dance experience, Ms. Anne brings a depth of knowledge of many different genres of dance. Ms. Anne performed professionally in a multi-disciplinary dance company. She has taught ballroom, tap, jazz, and theatre, in addition to classical and contemporary ballet. Her students have won awards with her choreography at many prestigious dance competitions, including Youth America Grand Prix. Some of Ms. Anne's graduate research interests included studying the development of artistry in dancers and using artistic talents to develop a business model.
Dancers should wear form-fitting clothing that does not restrict movement. Dancers should take class from an area that allows them to move safely without hindrance from the floor or furniture. Dancers may also want to bring a water bottle to class.
While every reasonable effort will be made by the instructor to help dancers prevent injury, this is an online dance class and parents should be near their dancers for the duration of the lesson to ensure that their dancers are performing in a safe manner. Dancers should take class from an open space free of obstacles with a smooth floor. As tap shoes can damage the floors in your home, you might consider covering your floor with a piece of plywood!
