Class Experience

Welcome to Sign Language II. This class will be an in-depth Sign Language advanced class. This class is for those who have a working knowledge of American Sign Language and understand many signs when signed to them. This is not a class for beginners. There will be some study and work involved. I was told once that in order for me to become good at something, I needed to work hard at it. That is very much the case with American Sign Language. It is quite a bit of fun but it does take some work.
Each week, we will study either signs that have not been covered in the first Sign Language class, grammatical structure, or a chapter in the book, "The American Sign Language Phrase Book". There will also be a "topic" given most weeks where students will research on their own before the next class, bring their sentences to class, and sign for us. It will increase in number with every other week or so. Once we get to a certain point, I will provide the breakout rooms for a few minutes to sign the sentences with each other. Below is what we will be covering over the entire course.
The deaf technology paper will be on a current piece of technology used in the deaf and hard of hearing world. Such questions will be asked such as, "Did you cite your sources correctly?", "How does this apply to the deaf today?" and "What is the history behind how and why it was created?"
