In this ongoing class, students will practice reading and writing their sight words to help build sight word recognition. We will spend the first few moments of class creating a community by getting to know one another, understanding class expectations, and discussing our learning target. After the class meeting we will be introduced to the 5 words of the day. We will spend time reading and writing each new word as well as recognizing it in a sentence. The rest of our lesson will be spent practicing reading and writing the session's words of the day. Learners will move along a rainbow game board and will read and write the word they land on. So that all learners get the most out of this lesson as possible, all learners will practice reading and writing each word, whether it is their turn or not. We will continue to move through the game board for the rest of the class. If there is a day where we get through the game board quicker than expected, we will take the time to go back and review other sight words that have already been taught. We'll close our lesson out by checking in with our learning target to ensure students have understood, and students will also do a self reflection on their effort throughout the lesson!
