Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
🌟Welcome all future readers!🌟 I’m so excited you are here! ☺️In this 12 week Sight Word circle time class you will have the opportunity to review sight words and strengthen phonemic awareness! We will share, discuss and interact by singing songs, reviewing letters and their phonological sound using power point slides and flash cards, read early reader books, play teacher led phoneme awareness games and review the calendar and weather!

The following is an example of our circle time routine:

➡️ Greet each other and sing our Good morning song!
➡️ Review the day of the week, month, year
➡️ Share the weather where we live
➡️ Sing daily song together
➡️ Review sight words of the week using flash cards and power point slides
➡️ Review sight words of the week through interactive game (i.e. Search and Find, Bingo)
➡️ Review two letters per week using provided handouts and power point slides
➡️ Movement activity
➡️ Read an early reader book together and/or read power point slides together
➡️ Good bye and sing our Thank You song

⭐️Please refer to class Syllabus to see a detailed explanation for each weekly lesson.

🗓️ This class will continue through the end of November with new sight words every week!

📩I will be emailing parents a weekly handouts including a letter of the week review page and sight word review worksheet.

📆 Below are the times I teach this class:

➡️ 10:30am- 11:00amPST
➡️ 11:15am-11:45am PST
➡️ 12:15pm-12:45pm PST

*Please reach out if you would like to request a time slot not listed above.

🗓️ Our class meets 3 x per week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday).
* There will be a few days/weeks through out the year we will not meet and families will be reminded of those days/weeks closer to the date*

⭐️⭐️We will review two letters per week by learning the sound each letter makes. Learners will be introduced to both upper case and lower case letters throughout the weekly lessons.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ This class will be following the Letters Without Tears letter order (formerly known as Handwriting Without Tears Program). Meaning letters are not introduced in sequential order but instead in the following order: straight line letter group, circular letter group, diagonal letter group.
Therefore, the alphabet will be introduced in the following sequence:

1. L, F, E, H, T I
2. U, C, O, Q, G, S, J, D, P, B, R
3. K, A, N, M, V, W, X, Y, Z

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This class will be using flash cards to review sight words along with power point slides, games and teacher led phoneme awareness activities each week. Learners will also be invited to practice their writing skills but not required.

⭐️A few important things to note about this class:

➡️Class worksheets are given for learners to print and complete during class. However, you can always use a whiteboard or blank paper at home if printing is not an option. Crayons, markers, or pencils are helpful to have on hand during class time.

➡️At times, we may highlight holidays in class. I am inclusive to all types of holidays and celebrations and encourage families to share any traditions they celebrate throughout the year. Some ways of sharing special traditions/holidays with the class may be through recipes, books, or art activities. If you feel you’d like to share reach out to me anytime. We will also sing to students on their birthdays:)

➡️ I will mute all students when needed to minimize background noise. Please make sure your learner knows how to mute/unmute and adjust the camera if needed so they are clearly visible or stay near by during class if you feel they may need your support while on Zoom.

➡️ I will encourage learners to raise their hand during circle time if they want a turn to speak or ask a question. I will do my best to make sure every student gets a chance to be heard and share their thoughts while still maintaining a structured and calm classroom environment.

➡️I will incorporate songs and movement daily to allow each learner to strengthen large muscles and have the opportunity to sing along with classmates! I also encourage social interactions in class and will gently encourage students to participate in our daily class discussions related to our weekly theme, our book of the week and/or share their ideas regarding our weekly prompt question.

⭐️Throughout this multi-week class, learners will review sight words following a standard Pre-k/Kindergarten phonological and phoneme awareness curriculum. With a background in Psychology, I strive to create a welcoming and caring environment for each learner while also meeting each individuals cognitive and emotional needs. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have! :)

I look forward to having your learner in my class!

Warmly, Teacher Natalie☺️
