Parental Guidance
Students may experience stress related to the simulation’s competitive nature, students will need to have open communication so I can provide support if they find the content overwhelming. Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm Mrs. Kim or just Teacher Kim and I am thrilled to be part of the Outschool community. I am passionate about equipping teenagers ages 13-18, with essential real-life skills to prepare them for adulthood. Whether it's understanding financial responsibility, learning how to work in the adult world or even start their own business, or mastering other critical life skills, my classes are designed to provide teens with the knowledge they need to succeed.
As a special education teacher (in-training!), I specialize in teaching life skills to students with a wide range of disabilities, from mild to moderate. My approach is grounded in research-based intervention strategies, including positive behavior intervention and supports, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), applied behavior analysis, and culturally responsive practices. I firmly believe in the power of replacement behavior and reward strategies to foster growth and independence in my students. My classes will also revolve around providing a safe space for kids with disabilities and special needs to connect with others and make friends that understand that it's okay to be different, because that's what makes us unique!
My professional background as a project manager for the past six years has equipped me with invaluable skills in organization, planning, and problem-solving, which I seamlessly integrate into my teaching practice. Prior to my role as a project manager, I had the privilege of being a preschool teacher, where I cultivated my love for education and child development. This diverse background fuels my passion for nurturing the potential of every student I encounter. However, my true calling emerged when my own child was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism. This experience sparked my transition into special education, and I've never looked back. I've spent over a year homeschooling my child, gaining firsthand insight into the unique challenges and joys of personalized education.
I believe every child deserves care, respect, and a chance to grow holistically. Recognizing their unique backgrounds and abilities, I create an inclusive environment where they feel valued and empowered to learn at their own pace. Through hands-on experiences and interactive lessons, I spark curiosity and encourage active participation. I foster a supportive space where students can express themselves freely and build meaningful connections. By nurturing confidence and resilience, I empower students to embrace learning as a journey of continuous growth. My philosophy is rooted in nurture, individualized attention, and fun, aiming to inspire curiosity and ignite passion in every student.
