We will read a section of the play during each class followed by teacher-directed but student-led discussion. To truly appreciate the genius of Shakespeare, it is crucial to understand the language of his time; therefore, we will study the meanings of Shakespeare's words and any cultural or period significance. Shakespeare's plays contain some of the most beautiful quotations in all of literature, and this class will give students the opportunity to memorize select quotations and feast upon the magnificence of Shakespeare. I am extremely passionate about making Shakespeare easy to understand and helping students fall in love with literature.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of Shakespeare's use of words, literary elements, and storytelling.
