Description
Class Experience
Students will learn the definition of the music vocabulary words "Rhythm" and "Dynamics". Students will be able to create and echo rhythm patterns with the teacher and class. Students will be able to create and use a rhythmic instrument while in class.
Students should bring the following to class if possible (not required): 1 plastic easter egg, 2 plastic or metal spoons, 1/4 cup of dry rice, dry beans or small pebbles and a small roll of scotch tape.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
If desired, learners can create a small instrument using items we can find in our homes including plastic or metal spoons, tape, a plastic easter egg and small pebbles, rice or dried beans. Care should be taken with younger learners so that they do not place any of these items in their mouth prior to or during the lesson. Only upper body movement will be used in this lesson including clapping, waving and/or creating. Students will not be asked to dance. They may be asked to briefly leave their seat and find something small in their room or home that could safely be used as a "shaker". They will then quickly return to their seat and share their instrument with the class.
