A few years ago my love of theatre collided with my love for teaching, and I had the pleasure of running a few stage makeup courses for middle and high school students. With years of experience practicing the art of stage makeup, I'm so excited to now be able to offer this course online!
For each lesson, a makeup guide and template will be provided as a PDF. Students can choose how to work on their templates: either print one out per class to draw on or use an app to design on the computer. PLEASE NOTE: to participate in this class, students must purchase the necessary makeup supplies. My personal suggestion is the BEN NYE THEATRICAL CREME KIT This kit has everything you need for class, and will leave plenty leftover for fun! The kit: https://www.frendsbeauty.com/ben-nye-theatrical-creme-kit.html **Prices may vary depending on where you live; I suggest shopping around online for the best price!** If looking to purchase items separately, your student will need the following: (Double check your creams match your student's skin tone!) -Foundation cream -Highlight Cream -Shadow Cream -Color Cream Wheel (reds, purple, yellow, black) -Liquid Latex -Fake Blood -Brushes (thin) -Sponge Applicators -Stipple Sponges Other items to have on hand: -Scissors -Toilet paper -Makeup wipes / soap -Paper towel or old towel For questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Please be warned that some images and projects may be unsettling to some. I do show examples of real bruises, but all of the images used involving blood are of fake (make up) injuries only. I am always sure to warn students that these images are coming, just in case anyone wants the chance to look away! Be warned: if real blood makes your student queasy, fake blood might, too! We will do a safety test before using any materials for the first time, but as with any makeup product, please be conscious of possible allergy issues. Some latex techniques also require the use of a sharp blade or cutting tool (I recommend nail scissors).
