1-2 hours per week. Sewing Projects may require additional time to complete. Each project has a detailed How-To sheet and recordings are always available for students to review after class.Class Experience
This class is designed to follow Sewing for Beginners I or for those students familiar with a sewing machine. Students will continue to explore a wonderful form of self-expression by refining their previously learned skills of basic hand and machine sewing. In this 8-week class, we will use what we have learned to create several small projects to use in your sewing practice. This is a hands-on class that will require some tools including a simple sewing machine and some basic sewing supplies. I will sew along with students demonstrating, practicing, and creating. A detailed supply list will be sent prior to class sessions and plenty of handouts will be available for future reference. Adult assistance may be needed for younger students, e.g., helping with threading a needle or rethreading the machine. Week 1 – Review of sewing skills and making a Flower Pincushion - it's always fun to have some fun pincushions around your sewing area. Week 2 – Scissor Holder - Fabric shears are your special scissors for accurately cutting fabric. They should always be kept safe. Week 3/4 - Sewing Machine Pad - This sewing machine pad cuts down on the noise of the machine and has pockets in the front to hold sewing supplies. Week 5 - Sewing Machine Cover - Your sewing machine should always be covered when not in use. Dust and pet hair are not your machine's friends. Week 6– Fabric Tray - Fabric trays can hold sewing supplies or keep your sewing clips handy. Week 7 - "Little Boxes" - Boxes can be made in various sizes to store sewing notions. Week 8 - Simple Needle Case - Sewers always need a place to store their sewing needles.
