Project Schedule: Week 1: Pillowcase Learn about the sewing machine and its functions. Threading the machine and practicing seams on paper Create a cozy and personalized pillowcase to add comfort to your bedroom. Week 2: Microwave Rice Bag Hand Warmers or Heating Pad Use your sewing skills to make soothing hand warmers or a heating pad. Learn about fabric choices for different purposes. Week 3: Coaster/Hot Pad Make stylish coasters or hot pads to protect surfaces in style. Explore different sewing techniques to enhance functionality. Week 4: Draw String Bag Create a versatile and practical drawstring bag. Learn about drawstring closures and finishing touches. Week 5: Zipper Pouch Master the art of sewing zippers. Craft a stylish zipper pouch for storing small essentials. Week 6: Nine Square Patchwork Pillow Combine all your sewing skills to create a beautiful patchwork pillow. Those familiar with embroidery can add their personal touch. Supplies: Before our first meeting, you will receive a comprehensive supply list for each project. This list will also be posted in the classroom discussion for easy access. Course Structure: Each week, I will upload sewing video tutorials for the project of the week. These videos will be available by Sunday at 10 a.m. PST, providing you with the flexibility to work on your projects at your own pace throughout the week. Other Details
Parental Guidance
Learners will be using a sewing machine, sewing scissors, sewing pins, hand sewing needles and an iron. Sewing machine safety will be discussed at during the first class and reviewed each week.

I currently teach high school Family and Consumer Sciences. My favorite part of teaching CTE classes is the hands-on real-world experiences that prepare students for life after high school. In my classes, students explore career options, learn to manage their finances, write professional resumes and fill out job applications. Students practice effective communication skills, and event planning, participate in mock interviews, learn basic sewing skills and cook healthy inexpensive meals.
