During this course we will cover the various type of assistance dogs and their roles and responsibilities. We will discuss the personalities and training required for each dog. We will focus on the specific training you can do at home, particularly for therapy dogs! The teacher will use her own personal experience through training her service and therapy dog Duke to provide examples as well as the examples of other dogs and their individual roles with their human partners. The course will be interactive and discussion-based, giving students to ask questions they may have regarding the varying nature of personal working dogs.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My dog Duke was originally intended to be a pet, but found his way through all three categories before becoming a service dog. As his owner and handler, I've gained a lot of knowledge and experience having gone through each step of training and the legalities involved with each of his roles. I love being able to educate others and have helped many friends and acquaintances through their own training journeys.
I think it's incredible what dogs are capable of and am so excited to share all of the possibilities with students!
