Week 1Lesson 1Reading Comprehension ReviewWe will cover all the basics of reading comprehension including plot structure, purpose, point of view, characterization, and more.Week 2Lesson 2Main Idea and ThemeWe will cover finding and determining the main idea and theme of passages.Week 3Lesson 3Main Idea and Supporting DetailsWe will learn how to not only find the main idea but distinguish the supporting evidence to prove that main idea.Week 4Lesson 4Inference and Context CluesWe will determine inferences of passages and learn how to use clues in the text to find information.Week 5Lesson 5Comparing Passages and Finding EvidenceWe will learn to compare types of text and find evidence to support questions asked, as well as learn how to draw conclusions between types of text.Week 6Lesson 6Text StructuresWe will cover the different types of writing structures including compare and contrast, description, cause and effect, problem and solution, and more.Week 7Lesson 7Tone and MoodWe will determine the tone and mood being used in text and how to distinguish the difference.Week 8Lesson 8Literary DevicesWe will cover all the major devices they need in literature and grammar.Week 9Lesson 9Sentence, Structure, and PunctuationWe will begin writing this week by going over how to make our sentences better and more detailed. We will also cover a review on all punctuation.Week 10Lesson 10Grammar Review (Homonyms, Tense, Structure)We will cover some tougher areas of grammar including homonyms, verb tense, structure, and more.Week 11Lesson 11Paragraphs and StructureWe will learn how to properly organize and structure a paragraph when writing.Week 12Lesson 12Paraphrase, Summarize, QuoteWe will dive into the very important skills of being able to paraphrase, summarize and quote information.Week 13Lesson 13Editing and RevisingWe will walk through how to edit and revise anything we write, as well as find errors in other things.Week 14Lesson 14Evaluating Resources, Fact, and OpinionWe will learn how to find valid resources for writing and determine the differences between fact and opinion.Week 15Lesson 15Essay LayoutWe will quickly cover how to write a proper 5 paragraph essay and details that go along with that.Week 16Lesson 16Resources and CitationsWe will learn how to find and use good resources, along with learning how to cite proper information.Week 17Lesson 17Inference and Main Idea ReviewWe will go back over finding inferences and main ideas in text and using the information to do so.Week 18Lesson 18Critical ThinkingWe will have a fun last week diving into how to be a critical thinker in school and real life.

I have been a certified English teacher for almost 9 years. I have two Master's degrees, one in education, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and seeing students grow. I have taught in the classroom and for the largest charter in the US, and I have learned various methods of teaching. I have worked with all types of learning styles, so I am more than qualified to teach this class.
