Welcome to the Semester Long Book Club for ages 12 - 14! In this book club, we will meet every other week for 12 weeks to discuss our books. We will read one book every two weeks, and students will need to be ready to discuss a different book each time we meet. The fall 2023 book list will be released in May. Our spring book list is: Meeting 1 - Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Meeting 2 - Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys Meeting 3 - Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Meeting 4 - Unraveller by Frances Hardinge Meeting 5 - The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton Meeting 6 - Endangered by Eliot Schrefer Meeting 7 - The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas Meeting 8 - Small Favors by Erin A. Craig Meeting 9 - Legend by Marie Lu Meeting 10 - Strike the Zither by Joan He Meeting 11 - The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater Meeting 12 - The Institute by Stephen King This class is for students who devour books and enjoy discussing and sharing their thoughts with others. Students who do not like to participate may not enjoy this book club or feel very successful. I do not force students to participate but instead expect students to discuss, engage, and pay attention during class. Please support your student by encouraging them to keep their video and mic on. Also, encouraging your student not to watch something else while being in the book club will help them get more out of our meetings. Please note that we need 5 students to run this book club. Please consider sharing the listing after you enroll your student. I recommend not purchasing any of the books until we have the minimum number of students. Thank you!
Learning Goals
Students will gain experience discussing with peers and gain confidence doing so. Students will gain a deeper knowledge of books.

I have been running book clubs in person and online for over 10 years. I have experience working with students ages 8 and up and approach all topics in an age-appropriate way. If students need to be redirected, I will do that. I always listen to students and their opinions making them feel heard and appreciated for their thoughts.
