Welcome everyone!

In this self-paced course learners will look at two sounds per class, and after three sound classes they will complete a blending lesson learning how to read CVC words from the sounds previously taught.

All the lessons can be completed on handouts provided or on plane paper!

Each lesson will begin with the first sound and we will look at the letter with the picture entangled into it (as shown on class thumbnail). We will learn a little rhyme for this sound which will help with recall memory of the sound and the letter formation. For example, the sound ‘a’ is pictured with an apple inside it and the rhyme is ‘round the apple and down the leaf.’ I will model the formation onto the PowerPoint and then learners will either have a chance to either annotate the screen with their finger (if possible) or on the handout provided in the materials or both! Repetition with writing and saying the sound will be key here!

Next, we will look at some words and pictures of items that begin with this sound and learners will be encouraged to think of any more of their own. For example apples, ants, alligators.

After this, we will complete a ‘spot the sound’ activity and will be shown both on the board and in handouts (either works perfectly fine). Learners will have to circle all the letter a’s (for example) in a collage of other letters.

We will then move onto the second sound of the class where all the previous steps will be carried out again. Then at the end of class learners will complete another spot the sound activity to try and find both sounds covered in the class in a fun busy picture.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

I also have a live 1:1 phonics class if learners wanted private phonics tutoring!
