**PLEASE NOTE** This is a SELF-PACED class and is PRE-RECORDED. THIS MEANS STUDENTS WILL WATCH THE PRE-RECORDED VIDEO. There are no live meetings. All interactions between students and the teacher will happen on the class page. This class will be presented via powerpoint and pre-recorded demonstration videos. Week 1Lesson 1Draw and Paint a Mountain Landscape in the Style of Jen AranyiWe will examine the art style of contemporary artist Jen Aranyi, who is famous on Instagram, practice drawing a simple, abstract mountain range, then outline it with black Sharpies or illustrator pens (see materials list below), and finish the sky with watercolors to create a galaxy-like effect.
As a veteran art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
Paper (watercolor paper or other heavy paper, such as Bristol, strongly recommended due to the fact that we will be painting with watercolors) Pencils, sharpener, eraser Black permanent marker for outlining (permanent is important; water-based marker lines will wash into the watercolor): Sharpie brand, Micron, or similar work great for this project. Watercolors. These can be in the pan, such as Crayola, or tubes...whatever you have will work! Paint brushes Cup of water Paper towels newspapers or other way to protect table/workspace while painting.
