This student-centered lesson will begin with a brief introduction, then a mini-lesson on four dinosaurs: Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and Trachodon. A 5-10 minute discussion and quick review will transition learners to a fast-paced online game based on the facts presented in the class. The students will be encouraged to create a "dinosaur mashup". For example: Perhaps your "new dinosaur" will have the head of a Triceratops and the body of a Brachiosaurus. Of course, your imagined mixed-up creature will need a unique name. Time will be given to share the invented dinosaurs with the other learners in class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Debra Dugger. I have been an educator in the public school system for over 20 years. I originally set my focus on music education, but eventually used my creativity in a different way - language arts. Most recently, I've been a fourth grade Reading, Writing, and Social Studies teacher at a Texas public school, and a part-time music teacher for 12-14 year-old students.
My family and I have always been advocates of the arts, either through teaching or performing. We are a family of teachers, opera singers, instrumentalists, and writers.
I believe that knowledge is more easily retained when presented alongside imagination, creativity, and fun. My recent decision to retire from public school (May, 2021), opens a window to share the artistry and joy of education with new clarity, new worldviews, with new learners on Outschool.
