- ✔️Develop fluency in reading essential sight words. ✔️Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. ✔️Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). ✔️Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
I have been teaching for more than 25 years with the Toronto District School Board. My Ontario College of Teachers Certificate number is #286618. I attended Dalhousie University for my Bachelor of Music in Performance. I also have a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. I studied classical piano from the age of 5 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. While in University, I performed as a Mezzo-Soprano in the Dalhousie Chorale. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught K-12 Music, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2, Health and Physical Education. I have conducted choirs and musical ensembles for seasonal public performances throughout all of these years of teaching. I have always continued to advance my skills by taking additional qualifications courses and am very proud to be a Reading Specialist. It is my passion and joy to make learning fun and engaging for all of my students!
