Class Experience

US Grade 2
In this class, students will learn Number and Number Sense. Math can be easy and fun! Math can also be hard for some students. My goal is to make my students love math. In my class, we have fun and use visuals and hands-on activities to make math fun! I use short silly raps and videos for visual students. I also do step by step learning on the whiteboard. I always demonstrate before I expect my student to do it themselves. We will also use engaging games and discussions to help the students learn before we move on. Slides and pictures will be used to keep students on track. Each student will be asked to work out math problems and share them with the teacher. We will use notebooks and whiteboards to practice. Students will get to see anchor charts that show them how math is done in different ways. Homework will be assigned for students to have ready to share with the teacher for each session.
Course Break-Down-
Week One - read, write, identify the place, and value of 3 digit numbers.
Week Two - compare and order whole numbers up to 3 digits.
Week Three - round 2 digit numbers to the nearest ten.
Week Four - count by 2, 5, 10
Week Five - even/odd numbers, review what we have learned so far.
Week Six - write ordinal numbers 1-20
Week Seven - Fractions - halves/wholes/fourths
Week Eight - Fractions - thirds/sixths/eighths
Week Nine - Fractions with models and review fractions
Week Ten - Compare fractions and review fractions
Week Eleven - Review what we've learned throughout the course
Week Twelve - Ask Questions about anything we've learned and assess understanding.

All students will engage with the teacher and will be able to ask questions. Students can email me at any time and I am willing to help! I love teaching math and I look forward to meeting my students soon!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Friends. My name is Teacher Teresa! I love teaching all subjects: Math, English, Writing, Science, Reading, and History, Grades 1st through 5th. I have my Master's and Bachelor's in Education. I have taught in private school and public school for 12 years. I started teaching preschool at the age of 19 and have always taught kids in some form or other. From running summer camps to teaching after school programs. One of the things I love most about teaching is providing a fun way to learn. I like to use puppets and games to make learning fun. I have a puppet I use in class. His name is Bob and he's a monkey! Bob loves to learn and teach right along with me! I can't wait to meet my students and get to know them better!
