Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
In this one time class we will learn 3-4 poetry forms. Each poetry form will have a mini-lesson, example poem, and writing time. Poems will be written using winter themes. Learners can raise hands and share poems throughout class. 

Class Structure: 
- Class Greeting and Introductions: 5 minutes
- Winter Brainstorm: 5-10 minutes*
- Haiku Poem: 5-10 minutes*
- Cinquain Poem: 5-10 minutes*
- Acrostic Poem: 5-10 minutes*
- Tricube Poem: 5-10 minutes*
*Times are approximate since some groups will move on quicker than others.
Extra poetry forms will be available for classes that finish early.
- Class Closing: 5 minutes
Learning Goals
Learners will consider what things are "winter things".
Learners will learn 3-4 poetry forms.
Learners will practice writing poems.
*Some classes will include diverse learners and diverse descriptions of winter.

Parental Guidance
Single Learner Classes: - Single learner classes will go ahead as scheduled unless learner and family request otherwise. - If the lesson ends early, learners will have writing time at the end of class.
