In this ongoing class, young learners will see, hear, and talk about picture books with a caring and interested adult. The picture books are chosen based on the season in the northern hemisphere.

Beginner Level
In this ongoing class, learners will develop speaking and listening skills while enjoying wonderful picture books based on the current season. Each lesson: 5 min--Catch up with each other 15 min--Picture book read-aloud 5 min--Discussion We will discuss the book as I read, looking at the illustrations and talking about the characters, events, setting, etc. At the end, one learner may choose one or two questions from Sarah MacKenzie's Ten Compelling Questions. Learners will become more confident in their conversation skills. Learners will better understand other people's spoken language. Learners will grow in understanding stories from book illustrations. Learners will gain confidence in having verbal discussions. Learners will develop critical thinking skills by considering open-ended questions and others’ perspectives. Learners will better understand how authors use story elements to create wonderful stories. Learners will develop empathy and understanding of both fellow class members and characters in the story by relating to their perspectives.
