In this 4-day Scratch camp, kids code a Mario Bros-style platformer with gravity, wall detection, portals, lava, and 10 fun levels! Perfect for intermediate to advanced coders ready for a challenge and familiar with Scratch basics.
Students will complete a full working multi-level game that can be played by their friends and families.

If so, our Mario Platformer Coding Camp is the perfect place to start! In this exciting intermediate-to-advanced Scratch camp, students will dive into game development by creating their own Mario-style platformer from the ground up.
🎮 About the Camp
Kids love Scratch platformers—and now they’ll build one inspired by the classic Mario universe! Campers will code game mechanics like gravity, wall detection, functions, and broadcast blocks, all while designing custom levels filled with challenges, power-ups, and enemies. It’s hands-on, creative, and tons of fun!
🗓️ Class Schedule
Day 1: Build a Basic Platformer Game
Introduction to the Scratch platformer template
Code key mechanics: player movement, jumping, and landing
Day 2: Design Five Custom Levels
Learn level design principles
Add multiple levels with increasing difficulty
Day 3: Power-Ups and Enemies
Code interactive power-ups
Create challenging enemies and obstacles
Day 4: Debug and Test
Learn how to debug and polish games
Hands-on testing and game optimization

🌟 IMPORTANT NOTES – PLEASE READ BEFORE ENROLLING:
🔵 Prior Scratch Experience Required
This is a challenging, fast-paced camp designed for students with prior Scratch coding experience. It is not suitable for beginners.
🔵 Prerequisite Courses
Students must have completed basic and intermediate Scratch courses, either with me or through another provider.
🟣 Scratch Account with Sharing Enabled
Each student must have a verified Scratch account with project sharing enabled before the first class. Please ensure this is set up in advance.
🔵 Two Devices Required
Students can have two separate devices or have two windows open in one device. You can choose a setup that is comfortable for your learner.
If setting up two devices:
-One for joining the live Outschool class
-One for coding on Scratch (must include a keyboard)
🟡 Punctuality is Essential
To maintain the pace of the class, students must arrive on time each day. If a student joins late and the class is too far ahead, they may need to observe and watch the recording afterward to catch up.
🔵 Teacher Availability During Class
During live sessions, teachers are focused on instructing and are not able to respond to parent messages. Thank you for your understanding!
