Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner Level
Learning about the weather is a great way to get kids interested in nature and science because weather affects our lives every day. In this one time class, your child will learn about the formation of tornadoes, when and where they occur, the Fujita scale, and the different types of tornadoes. They will also learn tornado safety tips too.

I encourage the kids to ask questions and share any knowledge they may have about the class topic because that is a good way to learn about something new. I use visual graphics such as photos and videos in class so that the kids are able to see the concepts we are discussing.
During class the kids will use a printed copy of a world map to mark the countries where tornadoes frequently occur, and complete the tornado worksheets. The world map and tornado worksheets will be posted in the classroom as a PDF so that they can be printed. As far as supplies, the kids will need :
a copy of the world map
a copy of the tornado worksheets
colored pencils, crayons, and/or markers
