2 hrs 30 mins in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Each lesson, learners will complete an activity together in class as we explore the topic together. They will be given a factfile page to print off which will gradually build up into an encyclopaedia of knowledge. There is also an optional extra activity that can be completed at home to consolidate their learning. Homework will not be marked but can be posted in the classroom to receive comments.

Welcome to our Science: Extreme Earth Camp, an exciting journey into the wildest and most powerful forces of nature! Get ready to explore the thrilling and sometimes dangerous events that shape our planet. 

Over 5 days, this camp will take you on a whirlwind tour through earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, hurricanes and floods. Each day, we will dive into a new extreme event, uncovering the science and geography behind it, the amazing photographs and the incredible power of our Earth.  Let’s buckle up and embark on this amazing camp adventure together!

Each lesson will cover many of the Science, Geography and Social Science objectives of the UK, USA and Australian curriculums so it is an ideal way to keep learning going over the holidays or just for fun!  Every day, learners will complete an activity in class and will receive an additional activity to complete in their own time to reinforce their learning.  They will also be given a factfile on each topic which builds up into a mini encyclopaedia of knowledge.


All of our teachers have BA degrees and Qualified Teacher Status, with many also holding Masters degrees.  We ensure that our teachers have had at least 5 years experience of classroom teaching, with many having enjoyed more than 20 years in schools.

Other Details

Learning Needs
The class is taught by a teacher who is very experienced with children who have learning needs. We ensure that the lessons and worksheets are inclusive. We can also adapt learning materials for specific needs if required.
Supply List
All materials for each lesson will be posted in the classroom at least 24 hours in advance.  Learners should print out the class worksheet and bring it to the lesson so that we can complete it together.  They should also have a supply of basic stationary such as paper, pencils, crayons and glue.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

This camp will be taught by a UK qualified teacher who has over 15 years experience of teaching children from age 3-11.  They hold a BA (Hons) degree in Education which qualifies them to teach all subjects including science.  The camp overview and resources have been developed by a UK qualified teacher who specialises in educational design.
