US Grade 4 - 5
According to Penn State University, "The unique knowledge and interdisciplinary skill set of engineering scientists allows them to merge multidisciplinary resources to propose and develop innovative, enduring solutions and transform the latest scientific discoveries into enabling new technologies." or... as Bigweld said, from the move 'Robots', "See a need, fill a need!" Maybe your child will create the next big discovery in our world. So, let's give them a head start by learning how engineering can be used in many different scientific fields. They will spend the week engineering 5 different projects. Each class will begin with a 5-10minute introduction and then off we go! Students will be asked to post a picture on the class page of their completed projects each week. Projects (other field of Science) and *Objectives: Day One- Aerodynamic Carousel (Aerodynamics) * Investigate the relationship between the number of lit candles under a candle carousel, and how fast the carousel spins. Day Two- Box Oven (Solar & Heat Power) *Create a working oven than uses solar energy to work. Day Three- Potato Battery(Energy) *Measure how the voltage and current of potato batteries change when you combine them in series or parallel. Day Four- Balloon Car (Physics) *Design and build your own balloon-powered car that will travel as far and fast as possible. Day Five- Electric Motor (Electronics) *Learn how to build a simple electric motor and study how simple changes affect the motor's rotation. ~ Students will not be admitted beyond 5 minutes after class starts. The lesson will be in session and I will not have the opportunity to check the waiting room to admit students who are late. It is up to both the student and the parent to make sure you arrive to class on time. Refunds for missed classes will not be issued However, all classes are recorded so the student may watch at a later date to make up the class. ~~ ALL Students are REQUIRED to be on-screen during the entirety of the class. Students who refuse to keep their cameras on will be given a warning then placed in the waiting room once. If they continue to have their camera off they will be bumped from class and no refund given. This is for YOUR child's safety as well as my preference to be able to see and connect with each student. If you have completed the process for no video usage during class than I recommend that this class is not what you are looking for.

Learning Needs
Parents are REQUIRED to make instructor aware of needs prior to first class. All possible assistance will be made to assist in any students individual needs. Parent/Instructor Communication is expected throughout course.
Parental Guidance
Adults are required. Some tools may need monitoring for safety. Adult Assistance will be needed for each class. IF students do not have an adult with them, they will not be allowed to complete the projects but only observe instead.
Supply List
A list will be provided of resources needed for each projects. If ALL supplies are to be purchased than each project can cost about $20-$30. However, many supplies may be already in your home.
