This class is a great chance for young science fans to read and discuss a fantastic book. Students will gain a solid background in the periodic table, elements and atoms. They will practice sharing their ideas with others in our discussions.
I have a teaching degree with credentials for grades 4-12. My teachable subjects are science and math.
Homework Offered
There will be about 30 pages of reading assigned each week. Learners may complete optional research assignments that will be provided during each class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

The Disappearing Spoon (Young Readers Edition) by Sam Kean
The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean is a non-fiction book about the Periodic Table of the Elements. It covers historical events that could be upsetting for some readers such as war, death and disease. We will be using the Young Readers edition, which does not go into too much graphic detail, and should be appropriate for teen readers.
Each learner MUST have a copy of the The Disappearing Spoon (Young Readers Edition) by Sam Kean. Please make sure you are purchasing the young readers edition, and NOT the original book. When you register for this class, I will send a message to help ensure you have the correct edition.
