New to Saxon? Not sure where to start? Let me help! Together I will establish what Saxon level is appropriate for your learner. 30 minutes is appropriate for grades K-6 Need an hour for your learner who is grade 6-12, or needs a little extra time? Not a problem. Check out my hour long Saxon Math Placement Assessment. Saxon books are skill-level books, not grade-level books. It is essential that each student be placed in the text that meets his or her skill level. Success with one Saxon book strongly suggests success with the next Saxon book, so starting in the correct place is very important! Together we can do it! This assessment is perfect for parents who would like to outsource math instruction, or do not necessarily feel comfortable teaching the material. I will meet your learner where they are academically and guide them through the material at a pace that is comfortable to them. APPROACH. My approach to teaching maths is keeping the material fun and interactive. I don’t like to lecture - instead preferring to engage the students and make them invested in the material. SUPPLIES. I have digital copies of the EVERY Saxon Math Textbook, Worksheets, Tests and Answer Guide, so I am prepared to start at any point in the book, and guide your learner the rest of the way! Just bring your copy of the book, pencil, and paper to class! EXPERIENCE. I have taught maths for over a decade, and am a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. I also have two decades of experience in the homeschool / home educated community. NEED HELP? Not sure where to start, or need help assessing an appropriate level for your child? Coming from a neurodiverse family, I am comfortable and experienced with working with neurodiverse students. I also have extensive experience working with students with dyscalculia and dyslexia.

I come from a homeschooling family and love to give back to the community. I used Saxon Maths as a homeschooler, but am comfortable tutoring any maths curriculum from beginner all the way through advanced maths.
My wife and I were both home educated, and we are now continuing that amazing journey with our own family!
I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland and in my free time I enjoy hiking, martial arts, and cooking.

I am an accountant by trade and hold a Bachelors with honours degree and Masters degree in Finance, and have significant teaching experience.

I was a lecturer at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and taught finance classes to 240 undergraduate students.
I have ten years of private tutoring experience, offering one-to-one support from school age students up to the final year at university. I like to make my classes as interactive as possible, openly encourage questions, and bring in examples from the real world.

I am passionate about business studies and my philosophy is to have an interactive class as I find this style is effective in helping students' engagement and understanding. Some of the subject matters I teach - Economics, Accounting, Finance, and Maths - get a bad reputation for being boring and dull, but I endeavor to make them anything but that! I will work with your students to ensure they not only understand the material, but also enjoy the class and are able to take the concepts and apply them to their daily life.
