I have taught and tutored math for about twenty years. I hold a current teaching certificate in K-8 elementary school, with a focus on math. I am halfway to my master's in secondary math. I really enjoy math - it is very relate-able to food and money!
Homework Offered
Please contact the teacher if the learner has any questions about the work. 1) "Practice" - Learners should complete every problem. The "Practice" covers the material from the "Lesson". 2) "Problem Set" - Learners should complete every problem. Saxon scaffolds upon previous lessons, so completing all the problems is important. Learners or guardians should check the answers in the "Solutions Book".
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Progress will be evaluated during the lessons based on learner work. The teacher may contact the learner's guardians as needed. Guardians are welcome to contact the teacher as needed. Progress will be evaluated with the Saxon tests if requesting a grade. Assigned Saxon tests should be completed without assistance from parents or other people. Calculators may or may not be used, and this will be stated by your teacher when the assessment is assigned.
Grades Offered
Grades, Scoring: 1) I can assign grades if requested. The learner must turn in their tests to receive a grade. Please let me know if you are requesting a grade for the semester. 2) I do not grade homework. Learners are welcome to ask individual questions or post photos for homework review. It is not required to submit homework. 3) If the learner is not requesting a grade, submitting "Tests" is not required. 4) The "Solution Manual" contains the answers to the lesson homework and test answers.
Prerequisite:
1) The previous semester.
2) Placement tests can be found here: https://sites.google.com/view/teacherkatemath/placement-tests
3) or approval of the teacher.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
External Resources (optional):
All the external resources in this class are optional.
This class includes a paid subscription to ixl.com for the duration of this course. This is an optional resource and not required for learners. Learners will be given a username and password upon request.
This class also provides matching supplementary lessons from Khan Academy and Splashlearn - both of which you can use without accounts, or create accounts. Both of these resources are optional and not required for this class as well.
