What's included

1 hrs 30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this course, students will learn about climate change from the viewpoint of hopeful, positive, solutions based environmental activism. Solutions based activism includes: * how to create art that educates, informs and inspires people to take action to prevent climate change. * how to write letters to leaders in our communities that invite them in to create solutions rather than call them out. * how to invite every member of our community to work together on our biggest climate challenges; transportation, agriculture, water/soil health and just transition. We will explore our delicate ecosystem, how humans impact it and how we can use art to protect it. Students will learn about and explore ways that humans cause and could mitigate climate change. After the lesson, students will be introduced to art techniques and challenged to create a piece art inspired by their reflections. Students will be encouraged to apply what they've learned to teach others through art. Students will be inspired to include their own original ideas for improving our relationship with our planet. Students will be learn how to create postcards from photographs of their work and to write letters to leaders who may be encouraged to fight climate change with us. ARTivism is beautiful, joyful activism. This course is all about dreaming. Dreaming what our relationship with our planet could be and using art to encourage others to join us in the fight to protect and regenerate our earth. Students will be encouraged to share their art in their community after the course and invited to include it in our online gallery exhibit should they choose to.
