Class Experience

Embark on a virtual African safari in this project-based summer camp where students learn about some of Africa’s most treasured species. During our journey, students will learn about the behavior, anatomy, and ecology of iconic wildlife such as elephants, rhinos, crocodiles, lions, and more! We will have a blend of PowerPoint visuals, engaging discussions, show-and-tell, and a variety of STEAM activities. Students will have the opportunity to bond with and socialize with other kids that share a passion for zoology.  

Day 1: African Elephants
Day 2: Rhinos and Hippos
Day 3: Big Cats
Day 4: Giraffes and Crocs
Learning Goals
This summer camp is highly immersive and will promote creativity, critical thinking, and utilizes STEAM principles. Students will be expected to complete assignments in preparation for the following session. Learners can expect to learn about wildlife behavior, migration patterns, anatomy, and ecology in this wild zoology camp!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Dr. Heather Blackall holds a PhD in Biochemistry, as well as advanced degrees in pharmaceutical sciences, and veterinary medicine with an emphasis on forensic toxicology. She is nationally certified as a toxicological chemist, and possesses multiple state licenses in clinical chemistry. She currently serves as an environmental writer and wildlife conservation consultant for a variety of global entities. She is also the founder of Ocean's Daughter Conservation Alliance.

She has traveled globally to promote wildlife conservation endeavors, and possesses experience working in the field on a variety of wildlife research endeavors.She is a published children's book author and has experience teaching internationally.
