Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this course, students will be introduced to the exciting world Career Planning and Preparation! This high-energy, interactive 5-week course will provide learners will the opportunity to discover exciting career opportunities, how to search and find those job openings and how to apply. Together we will begin writing impactful resumes and learning about cover letters and interview skills. How to present a professional image both in person and online will be discussed and demonstrated. This course will prepare learners to apply for part-time and eventually full-time employment. Career Planning and Preparation skills are lifelong skills that will travel with your learner as they grow. Class structure will involve lectures, interactive discussions, skill practice, power point presentations and short video clips. Questions are always welcome and encouraged! Classes will be tailored and adjusted to be as specific to the interests of the class participants as possible. Why should I participate in co-op? -Why wasn’t I selected for an Interview? -What if I’ve changed my career plans? I look forward to teaching your learner and guiding them to develop confidence in their career planning skills. I have over 10 years of experience in teaching high school and university students skills in career planning, networking, interviewing and the development of self-marketing materials including resumes and cover letters. I have been employed as a Youth Employment Officer with a government organization, and at two Universities as a Career Advisor and Co-op Program Coordinator. I am currently a private consultant working with youth and adults to assist with the development of professional and engaging employment documents and interview preparation. I look forward to working with your learner and helping them to develop skills and confidence in these areas.
