Class Experience
In this course, students will be taught the basics of how to play the guitar. Whether the student owns an electric or an acoustic guitar, it does not matter. As long as they own a guitar of some sort and (ideally) a guitar pick, they should be all set. Classes will be structured as such: - Review of previous lesson to see how students have progressed (5 minutes or less) - New guitar chord/scale/exercise (7 - 15 minutes) - Application of newly learned chord or scale (5 - 10 minutes) In our first lesson, we will have a brief history of how the guitar as we know it today came to be, including learning the parts of the guitar. Then, we will dive into our first chromatic exercise to give students a feel for plucking a guitar string and moving their fingers around the fretboard. We will learn one or two new chords every lesson and practice new strumming patterns, starting with simple downstrokes, and working our way up to more complicated patterns (incorporating a mix of down + up-strokes). In later lessons we will learn how to play scales and eventually, put the pieces together and learn how to play a radio-hit song. The approach I have with teaching is friendly, patient, and of course, fun! I have always been good at connecting with younger students and have been told many times in the past that I am an approachable teacher. Throughout the course, we will primarily be going through guitar workbooks and I will facilitate lessons by first leading by example and then giving students time to practice while I observe and make any corrections as I see fit. Note: All lessons will be subject to change based on student's overall progression, whether lessons require more or less difficulty. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rock & Roll, guitar, guitar lessons, beginner guitar, music, music theory, songs
