NOTE: You must have experience using Roblox Studio BEFORE taking this class. This includes experience making your own roblox games. This class does not teach how to use Roblox Studio. This class is about learning how to code. You must know how to use Roblox Studio before learning how to code. This live course is designed for students that have Roblox Studio experience and want to learn the basics of the Roblox Lua/Luau programming language. Roblox Lua/Luau is the programming language used in Roblox games. New students are welcome to join ANYTIME. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Each week, we practice coding in Roblox Studio. The codes may be different each week, but the TOPICS remain the same. The topic is computer programming fundamentals. This includes things such as: Variables Functions Parameters Datatypes This is an ongoing class. This means the class runs for an indefinite amount of time. This allows for students to join the class ANYTIME and not be behind. Take the class for as long as you want. Start/end the class whenever you want. We do different codes each week, but the goal remains the same. The goal is for students to master the fundamentals of Roblox Luau. It's easy to find code online, copy and paste it, or follow a tutorial to make something work. However, true mastery comes from knowing why and how the code functions. For example, do you know what a variable is and how to create one? Can you explain when to use a named function versus an anonymous one? These are essential concepts that every coder should grasp. For example, every server script in Roblox starts out with this code: print("Hello world") Almost every student I know can type that code, but what does it mean? What does the code do? How is it useful? It uses a function. What kind of function is it? What is a function? What part of the code is a string? Do you know what a string is? These are the kinds of questions many students cannot answer. They are just typing code but don't truly understand what they are typing and why. My goal is to teach you the logic behind the code you write. Coding is more than just typing—it’s about understanding the principles that make your code work. This course is high engagement and encourages discussion. I ask students questions about the codes and students ask me questions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setting up the Computer Strongly suggest using two devices and a computer mouse for class. Roblox Studio is very challenging to use without a computer mouse
