Class Experience

We will begin the class by giving the students the option to show off their favorite bear and/or wig while we learn some fun facts about polar bears. We will then discover real and nonsense words that rhyme with “bear.” Using our discoveries, we will create a silly polar bear song together as a class. Yes, I will sing for the class, and I will encourage, but not require, my students to sing with me as well. We will then integrate some life skills into the class by comparing and weighing out options to make smart decisions. We will finish out the class by discussing confidence in your decision even when your decision is unique or different from others using the attached activity sheet. I always end my class with a fun challenge extension activity idea leaving my students wanting to learn more! I am so excited to see you in class!

Teaching Philosophy: I enjoy encouraging learners to be involved and engaged through a computer screen with hands-on activities, sharing, getting to know each other, and discussing topics of interest to the learners. I always work to inspire learners to continue their learning after class and to look forward to their next class.

Something Fun About Me:
I love camping, traveling, and the great outdoors. I have been to 41 of the 50 states and visited 23 of our inspiring national parks with a goal to visit all 63 of them someday. My 4 children, ages 9, 7, 4 and a baby, have accompanied my husband and I on many of our adventures. My oldest has Down syndrome, and she brings great joy and purpose to my life in raising awareness and teaching others about Down syndrome, diversity, and differences. I love my chocolate goldendoodle dog, my saltwater fish tank, and fuzzy sea otters!
