In this one-time class we will focus on identifying and generating rhyming words. We will practice a variety of strategies that early readers and writers will be able to apply as they continue to develop phonemic awareness skills. In today's class I will be using different techniques to engage all learning styles including visual (using pictures), auditory (listening to words and focusing on the ending rimes), kinesthetic (incorporating hand motions and scavenger hunt games), and verbal...
Prior to class, I will post a copy of the nursery rhyme used in today's class to the classroom page. I will also send each registered student some cards to use for our "I have, who has" game.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
