This will be a class that meets weekly to explore the wonders of the wild. This class does not build on previous lessons, so come join for as many classes as you want! We will discover and study everything from worms, to mushrooms, to flowers. We will explore topics like different types of insects, types of trees, natural disasters, spider webs, life cycles, mammals, feathers, different birds, nests, bird eggs, owls, ecosystems, types of fish, adaptations, fish, bodies of water, wild animals, snakes, art inspired by nature, story rocks, rainbows, rodents, rock cycles, minerals, landforms, symmetry found in nature, and more! My teaching style will be enthusiastic and passionate. It will be in a presentation form, but with lots of opportunity for discussion. I will first read a non-fiction book about the topic we will be covering, which will be shared on the screen to follow along and see the pictures clearly. Then we will go through main ideas and cool facts we learned. There will be time for clarification and questions. After this portion of the class, we will then do some artistic or hands-on small project related to the topic. This may be a step-by-step drawing, small experiments, or even art made from natural materials. Come join us for a weekly rewilding!

I’m a certified teacher in Elementary Education with my Master’s in Education Leadership, with experience in both in the US and internationally. My family and I had the privilege of living overseas for 15 years, teaching in international schools around the globe. I've lived in New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Bosnia and Herzegovina! I value teaching small groups, students from diverse backgrounds, instilling curiosity in my students, and encouraging students to take ownership of their learning. Over the course of my 18 years in the classroom, I have gained valuable insight into best practices and ways to connect with learners. I strive for each of my learners to know that I care deeply about them and their education. Connection is the base for all authentic learning.
On Outschool, I am teaching an array of different classes: math camps, problem solving, traveling, book clubs, nature journaling, tutoring, choose-your-own-adventure, reading comprehension courses, and novel studies to list a few. I believe in smaller class sizes to ensure quality of education and engagement.
Outside of teaching, I am an avid long-distance trail runner, reader, and traveler! I'm equally passionate about all three. I love anything outdoors. Travel has taught me valuable life-long lessons that I love sharing with others. I have a teacher husband (also on Outschool!), and two young children that I adore.
