Class Experience

In this one-time class, students will learn essential social-emotional skills and will be able to explain the following topics: how to show respect, how to handle disrespect,  why showing disrespect is wrong, why lying and talking back is disrespectful, how to handle anger in an effective way, and how we can build positive relationships with others by showing respect. 

Class Agenda 

Introduction:
- Icebreaker
- Briefly introduce the importance of respect and the goals of the class.

Understanding Disrespect:
-Discuss different forms of disrespect and their impact on individuals and relationships.
-Engage in a brief group discussion to share examples of disrespect.

Honesty:
-Explore the importance of honesty in building trust and respectful relationships.
- Discuss the impact of lying and its consequences briefly.
- Talk about how you can be honest while still being kind.

Deal with Frustration & Resisting the Urge to Talk Back
- Discuss how to manage frustration effectively. 
- Share effective strategies for managing anger and expressing emotions respectfully.
- Discuss how to communicate emotions and frustrations in a respectful and effective manner.


What Would You Do? 
- Read, reflect, and discuss different scenarios about respect, honesty, anger, and communicating in a respectful way.

Wrap-up and Reflection 
- Review key concepts: Disrespect, Honesty, Anger, Talking Back, Expressing Emotions and Frustrations Respectfully
- Provide students with a final takeaway message on the importance of respect when it comes to building positive relationships.


The goal of this class is to teach students about the impact of disrespect on others, the importance of honesty and integrity, strategies to manage anger and express emotions effectively, and ways to communicate frustrations respectfully. 

Our class is structured to be interactive and student-centered. You will participate in engaging activities, discussions, and games that encourage self-reflection, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We will also incorporate multimedia elements such as slides, video clips, and thought-provoking scenarios to enhance your learning experience.

My teaching style is engaging, discussion-based and student-centered. This class will be taught using Canva presentation slides, lecture, and discussion. 

No prior experience or knowledge is required to join this class. It is open to all students who are eager to learn and grow in their understanding of respect and its significance in their lives.
