Class Experience

This course has been successful for 2 decades in different formats.
1. We take on a real-life experience (an actual activity) to demonstrate a common situation and set a baseline.
2. We walk through personal examples of what to do in that situation that will result in a positive result for all parties.
3. The structure for good communication lies in 2 secret formulas. We reveal those formulas.
4. We practice as a group. Trying on the new communication hacks
5. We will cover the application of topics to practice as a student in life, with adults anytime, at home, or at school.
6. We will examine the importance of "showing not telling" and modeling a good example when practicing.

Parents agree that having their students communicate effectively releases tension for both parties. Get off the phone and say it to my face.
Learning Goals
Students will breakdown the formula to:
- 'asking for what they need"
- 'expressing their frustration'
- 'Apologizing without being asked'
- 'Beliving the best VS assuming the worst'
Students will practice the skills over 4 situations
Students will apply methods to personal situations, for personal gain
learning goal

Parental Guidance
Parents are recommended to give space for the student to practice the skills VS "tell me what the formula is". Parents should not be using it against the student... ie. "you went to class - go on, communicate effectively". The objective is to mold this best practice to their style of communication.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
