Does your child need support with independent research? Skills such as paraphrasing and keyword searching are not skills that our kids pick up by themselves and need to be explicitly taught. That is where I can support. :) Students will learn a variety of research skills that can be transferred to their school assessments and projects, leaving them feel more confident in their abilities. There is potential for this class to be student-driven, depending on the needs of the learners enrolled. For now, the weekly breakdown is as follows - 
Week of Apr 24 - Using keywords
Week of May 2 -Different research methods - yes, it's not just Google! 
Week of May 8 - Note-taking methods
Week of May 22 -Paraphrasing  
Week of May 29 - Creating a research plan - how do I go from topic/task to final product? 

Lessons will be spent - 
-Explaining the skill and why it is important in the research process
-Modeling the skill 
-Giving student time to practice, with feedback given.
