It is 1942, and in the Nazi Party capital of Munich, Germany, a series of mysterious flyers are showing up in buildings, homes, and other random places. The message on these flyers is direct: resist Hitler, oppose the Nazi Party, sabotage the war effort. Who was behind these brave but very dangerous words? The answer will both surprise and inspire you. Join me as we investigate the little known resistance movement referred to as the White Rose. This interactive and engaging class has been designed for students to do the following: - Explore the story of a secret student resistance movement in the heart of Nazi Germany. Questions that we will explore include the following: What was the White Rose? What was its mission? Why did it go silent? - Investigate life as a German youth during the Nazi Regime. Students will discuss the risks and rewards in choosing to speak up against Hitler. - Discuss the legacy of the White Rose movement on non-violent protest.
