55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 55-minute, one-time class students will learn the difference between the words reduce, reuse and recycle, or, the three R's. They will learn their meaning and discover examples of each of them in practice. We will then relate the three R's to our environment and discuss why it is important to do these three actions as well as decide which is the most important. Students will interact with each other in shared learning as well as fun games designed to master this topic! They will walk away more informed and motivated to take care of the world around us. We will also practice ways we can reuse by making art with toilet paper rolls! No prior knowledge needed!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the meaning of the three R's: reduce, reuse and recycle. They will also learn examples of each and discover their importance to the environment.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I am a creative, fun and patient Environmental Educator, Spanish and English teacher, and certified Permaculture designer. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, French and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) as well as a TESOL certification I received in Thailand before teaching there for a year. I am a former Peace Corps volunteer and spent four years in Mexico as an Environmental Education volunteer working with kids in rural schools. I have also worked as an online English teacher for over a year. Teaching kids is truly my greatest joy!
I am passionate about the environment and love teaching kids about composts, gardens, energy, and climate change! I am also fluent in Spanish and enjoy teaching fun vocabulary and introductory conversation classes. I also love working with kids on life skills such as public speaking and confidence building and try to incorporate them as much as possible in my classes.
When I'm not teaching you can find me embroidering, reading mystery books, writing and tending to my vegetable garden. I can't wait to meet you, let's learn something fun together!
