US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In this one-time class learners will be introduced to chunky monkey. This is a reading strategy that students can use to find small words hiding inside big words. I believe that it's important to connect with each learner in class. Therefore, I keep my class sizes small so that every child can participate and share. Learners will be encouraged to get up and move during our class. In this class we will: -learn a song about chunky monkey -practice using the reading strategy -learn interesting facts about monkeys. ✏️A worksheet will be provided for students to engage more deeply with the lesson during class. This worksheet will help reinforce the skill being learned and will be completed and referred to during the entire class. ✏️ If you are unable to print please make sure your child has a pencil, crayons, and paper so that they can draw pictures at certain points in class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to find small words in bigger words.
Students will learn how to find letter combinations in words to help them read 4-6 letter words.
Students will learn interesting facts about monkeys.
