Reading Through Music
This class will use music to practice early reading in a unique way. Students will learn performance techniques while reinforcing early literacy skills. Music and movement will also give little ones a chance to learn while having fun!

Beginner Level
This course will cover early literacy skills as well as basic singing, music, and performance skills. We will read stories and sing songs about a variety of Early Childhood topics like days of the week, months, weather, holidays, animals, fables, fairy tales, and more. Each class can be taken on it's own without needing pryer class knowledge to complete. I will teach the class using a variety of techniques and movement activities. We will sing songs, read books, and learn movements all while reviewing early literacy skills such as letter sounds, syllables, and sight words. I will lead students in all activities the entire class time to encourage participation and success. The following is a guide for the first nine weeks: Week 1 (January 6-10, 2025)- Days of the Week and Months of the Year Week 2 (January 13-17, 2025)- Letter Sounds Week 3 (January 20-24, 2025)- Drumming with Syllables Week 4 (January 27-31, 2025)- Freeze Dance Phonics Week 5 (February 3-7, 2025)- Colors Week 6 (February 10-14, 2025)- Valentine's Day Week 7 (February 17-21, 2025)- Cats Week 8 (February 24-28)- Sight Word Dance Party Week 9 (March 3-7, 2025)- Fables
Learning Goals
Students will sequence letters of the alphabet while producing sounds for vowels and consonants.
Students will recite familiar texts in rhymes, songs, poetry, etc.

Parental Guidance
We will be singing and listening to published music, poetry, and books. All items will be grade level appropriate.
Supply List
With regard to supplies, each week will be different. I will provide a class by class guide for the first 18 weeks during the first course. Most weeks we will not need supplies; however, we will sometimes do a related craft that could need a few supplies.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have an instrumental music bachelor degree and have taught early childhood music for four years in the public school setting. I have also given private vocal and instrument lessons for several students.
