The teacher will introduce the reading passage, discuss the title, vocabulary, work work that relates the reading (blends, endings, suffixes, prefixes, syllables, etc). Students will take turns reading the story individually and/or with a partner. The teacher will ask guiding questions to help them with reading skills they will need to use while reading. After reading the teacher will lead a discussion to help students with comprehension. If time allows, students will write about the story, which reenforces the reading skills and comprehension they learned during the class. Week 2/7: Weather Week 2/14: Animals Week 2/21: Biography-athlete Week 2/28: Human Body Week 3/6: Biography-scientist Week 3/13: Biography-politician Our teachers will use slides/screen share and printed copies of the passages to lead students in reading and comprehension activities. Teachers can also use whiteboards and/or slides to help students with decoding, segmenting and blending words from the passages, as well as during their written work time.
