Reading Rookies: Help Your Child Catch Up and Love Reading Again

Is your child struggling with reading? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to face this challenge without support. Reading Rookies is designed specifically for upper elementary students who need help filling in foundational literacy gaps and gaining confidence in their reading abilities.

What You’ll Get:
In this personalized 1:1 tutoring program, I use the Science of Reading and evidence-based strategies to meet your child’s unique needs. Here's how I help your student succeed:

Master Foundational Skills: Multisensory lessons in phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, and sight recognition.
Build Confidence and Fluency: Repetition and encouragement ensure progress every step of the way.
Foster Comprehension: Strengthen vocabulary, background knowledge, and language skills to make reading meaningful and enjoyable.

What to Expect During a Session:

Review: We begin by revisiting the previous lesson to solidify learning through repetition.

Targeted Decoding Practice: Close gaps in foundational skills and advance to more complex reading and spelling strategies.

Fluency and Comprehension: Your child reads aloud, receives immediate feedback, and builds confidence as they see measurable improvement.

Vocabulary Building: New words are added to flashcards or Quizlet, expanding their knowledge base.

Grade-Level Literature: I read to your student and encourage them to read along, proving they can enjoy the same books as their peers. Every session is filled with encouragement, targeted practice, and age-appropriate literature to keep your child engaged and motivated.

The Result?
Your child will develop the skills they need to read fluently, confidently, and with joy. They’ll catch up to their peers, feel proud of their progress, and discover the power of skilled reading. Trust me. I've seen it happen.
