US Grade 5 - 6
Daily practice is necessary for students to connect sounds to letters, decode and spell, and recognize the most used words in our language by sight. The end goal is skilled reading and comprehension so they can demonstrate their understanding in the classroom. One-on-one 6th grade reading tutoring provides personalized attention to help your middle school student find the tools he needs to succeed in all his classes. By focusing on individual strengths and areas for improvement, I tailor lessons to engage and challenge. Each session consists of both remediation and acceleration. With this dedicated support, your child will achieve greater academic success and improved self-esteem. The class includes: 1. Fundamental Reading Strategies 2. Vocabulary Building Techniques 3. Understanding and Analyzing Text Structures 4. Reading Comprehension Skills 5. Literary Elements and Devices 6. Critical Thinking and Interpretation 7. Summarizing and Synthesizing Information The class is structured into twice weekly sessions, each lasting 45 minutes. Each session includes a mix of direct instruction, interactive reading activities, and practice exercises. There is immediate correction when reading errors occur, lots of praise and repetition of each new concept. Lessons will be dynamic and engaging, incorporating a variety of reading materials. My teaching style is student-centered, supportive, and adaptive. I focus on creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing their challenges and celebrating their successes. I use positive reinforcement and tailored feedback to help each student grow.
