US Grade 3 - 5
Does your child dislike reading or struggle to find a book to keep their interest? Often times students dislike reading or struggle to maintain interest in a book because they don't know how to pick an appropriate book. In this class I will teach students how to pick an appropriate book so that they can find a book they like and finally discover their love for reading! I will use 3 key principals to help students find books that they enjoy and that help them improve as readers. Students will learn to evaluate their purpose for reading, the difficulty level of a book, and their interest in a book. In the class I will model choosing a Just Right book, give examples of too easy books, too challenging books, and Just Right books, and give students a chance to practice identifying whether books are appropriate for reading independently. This class is only to help students identify an appropriate book at their current reading level. If your student is struggling with reading please stay tuned to my page for upcoming reading lessons and tutoring sessions.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify a book for independent reading that is an appropriate difficulty level using the 3 factors of purpose, difficulty, and interest.
